When I hear a Rhodes it's usually encompassing the stereo image. The Rhodes sample set you are using seems to be too centered. More TLC to the drums and you will take this to the next level. To pull this kind of piece off you really need to get as far away from a "programmed" sound as possible. They really detract from the song, and give it a very unnatural MIDI sound. You should rethink the way the drum fills are being implemented. I like the way you came out into the 3minute mark. I think your playing is excellent and when the tune is in a groove it sounds great. If you liked Mark's piece, here is something else worth listening (only 01:12 of your time): Why, oh why the piece sounds so perfect to me even in cheapist headphones and mine doesn’t? I think the answer is so simple - you need to be born to write something like that. Vocals add energy to the feel, but even without them piece sounds so tasty thanks to the masterful arrangement. And when that simple and beautiful bass line and Snare start at 00:21 I know that I'll love the rest. In fist 20 seconds everything from bass drum, claps, HH, guitar, clavinet, organ to brass phrases works and creates that magic feel. Every time my feet start tapping and my head gets dizzy of pleasure. I downloaded Mark's piece and listened to it dozens of times. Here is an example of what I'm talking about: It Takes Time to Build I still can't reach the feel of the music. I'm still working on the piece, which was written, BTW, more than 15 years ago. First of all I'd like to thank Dirk, Mark, Flake Cosmo, Chandrasekhar and Ed for finding time to listen and comment.
